What makes a good scientist? - Making an Infographic

Today I made an infographic using the site 'Canva'. My topic for the infographic was on what makes a good scientist... I came up with lots of ideas including things such as the hypothesis, experiments, results, and the questions that scientists ask themselves after getting their test results.
I had fun making the infographic, and I am proud of the work I have done today!

Learning about Poetic Devices

Today, for writing, we learnt a bit about poetic devices. Poetic devices can be used to create rhythm, including repetition and rhyming. I did a lot of work on Similes, Metaphors, Personification, Imagery, Alliteration and Assonance, Hyperbole Repetition and Rhyme. I had to find their definitions, give my own examples of them, and much much more! But I loved working on poetic devices today, and I am looking forward to more fun activities, though it took my 100 years to finish! That was a Hyperbole right there!

Earbud Art

Technique: I took 5 earbuds and stuck them together, then I dipped them in paint to make dots for the leaves.
Colour: I mixed the colours together to make the different coloured leaves. From the branch out, the colour goes from dark to light, as it is the start of Autumn and the end of Summer.
Success: All the things that were good in my art were....
The way the colour faded from one season to another.
The shape of my tree (it looks like a windy day).
The silhouette tree trunk.
The highlights.
What I need to work on: I think the main thing I need to work on is the way I place my branches, because some of them were just too close to each other.

Cooking With Room 7 & Writing a descriptive paragraph!

WALT write a descriptive paragraph about a muffin

Today in our class, Group 1 (All girls and 1 boy) got to bake muffins with Mrs. Tulumi. We are learning to describe the muffins using our 5 senses, and one paragraph...

Smell - When I was helping to stir the muffins with the electric whisk, I could smell the sweet sensation of cocoa powder, sugar, milk and eggs. It smelt sweet and pleasant
See - The mixture was brown, of course, and it looked creamy and very rich. I could see that the mixture was good looking and attractive.
Taste - Above is a picture (1st one) of my friend Temu and I tasting the mixture. It was sensational! The mixture tasted so scrumptious. And it was very moist and soft as well.
Feel - When the muffins were baked, and we pulled them out, I could feel that the crust was crunchy. The muffins themselves were fluffy and puffy at the same time!
Hear - When the muffins were finished baking, I heard the alarm warning us, so I scurried along to the oven with a bunch of friends and we carefully hoisted the muffin trays out. Outside of the school kitchen, I heard kids running around playing. It was an enjoyable day.

Writing an explanation on Key Competencies

How the Key Competencies Help Us Become Successful Learners

There are 5 different Key Competencies. To remember these 5, you can use the word ‘TRUMP’.
Thinking, Relating to others,Using language, symbols and texts
Managing self, and Participating and contributing.
These things are all important, and they can help anyone to become successful learners.

Thinking helps us to become successful because you can use your mind and your brain to help your succeed in all of your learning areas. You can think when you write, you can think when you read, and you can think when you do math and sport as well. When you think, you focus and concentrate on whatever your task is. Thinking helps you to comprehend more.

Relating to others can help you succeed, too! Relating to others in your classroom can mean making a connection. This means that you can work well with others in group work or teams.
When you relate to others, you are showing them that you can communicate well and work cope with your classmates. You can  relate to something that they have done as well, so this will help you to develop confidence and speech skills.

Using language symbols and texts means to read between the lines and clarify something. In my personal opinion, you can use this strategy to help you achieve good grades in your math areas. It can also mean being a smart and intelligent learner in class. You can confidently share your ideas with your classmates, teammates and especially your teacher. It is also when you can interpret images and understand them fluently and well.

Managing yourself in class can be when you listen to the teacher and show respect for everyone around you in class. This is all about being an honest learner and showing deep responsibility for your own doings and actions. It is about controlling your mind, brain and temper. It also includes setting goals that you will strive to succeed. Managing self can mean being motivated and concentrated.

Participating and contributing at school is important, too. You should always try your best in everything that you do at school. When you participate and contribute, you are actually giving your time to try something you have never done before, or something you have already done. You can use this skill when you are practising a sport. Even if you’re not confident with these skills, you should always try your best, because you’d never know where you might get to and what you might achieve throughout your school-life and onwards.
..

In class, we had to write an explanation on Key Competencies, and how they would help us to succeed academically. I just finished writing mine.. I hope you enjoy.

Bye for now, readers!
