Should Grandparents be paid for looking after their grandchidren

Jazire
Wednesday - August 23 2017

SUCCESS CRITERIA -
I need to have reasons for my argument statement
I must give valid reasons why I chose yes/no
My argument must include why or why not

Everyone knows that a babysitter gets paid when they take care of either a pet or child. But my question is, should Grandparents get paid for babysitting their Grandchildren?

Babysitters get paid most oftenly from their neighbours, not a family member or relation. But some people think that grandparents should be paid for taking care of their grandchildren. I think not. My reason for this is because grandparents should value the time they get to spend with their grandchildren. I think they shouldn’t be paid because when they babysit, they should be thinking about spending fun moments with their grandchildren instead of money.

I think that some grandparents might actually agree with this statement, because most grandpas and grannies just want to spend time with their little ones. And also, it would be a good advantage for a grandparent and grandchild to get along and develop a close relationship. Furthermore, I think that grandparents shouldn’t be given money for babysitting because sometimes, some people young children have younger siblings that need looking after and they help out with them. And most times, after spending a lot of time with their younger brother/s or sister/s they don’t get paid from their parents.

I think that people only get paid when they are older and actually need money, as only sometimes when younger children get paid, they may only spend it on lollies and junk foods. This is why I think grandparents shouldn’t receive any money for minding their grandchildren. Those were all of my valid reasons why I think grandparents should not be paid any money. Especially if they don’t want or need it.

I argue with everyone else that thinks grandparents should be paid. Because it wouldn’t be fair if another younger family member minded their younger siblings or family members and would earn nothing out of it.

We had to write an explanation or an argument to explain why or why not grandparents should be paid for looking after their grandchildren. We also had to give reasons to show why.

Explanation - How to get along with your classmates

Explanation - How to get along with your classmates

SUCCESS CRITERIA -
  • I must organise my ideas into paragraphs
  • I must be able to use grammatically correct sentences
  • My punctuation, spelling and sentence organisations should be correct
  • My explanation must include ideas related to the topic

Do you get along with your classmates well? Sometimes, getting along with the other children in your class is difficult. Luckily for you, I will explain how you can easily get along with your classmates.

If you’re having real trouble getting along with the children in your class, these are probably some of the best ways to manage your friendship.
  • Be friendly, kind and talk nicely
Most people like a friendly person. If you want to befriend a kid in your class, just smile, use kind words and ask them if they need any help with anything or if they’d like to play something with you.
  • Help them out with something
Sometimes, some children may be struggling to finish off their work, or may be having trouble fitting in, if they’re new. Walk over and offer them your help. This way, while helping them, you can talk to each other about other things as well as school things.
  • Play with them when they’re down
If you see one of your classmates sitting on their own, or being left out, go play with them and try to make them feel better. If you play with others when nobody else wants to, it shows that you are a kind person.

If you follow all of these ways to get along with the other children in your class, you’d probably have befriended the whole class then. And at the end of the school day, wave or say goodbye, and you’d definitely get one back.

Poem - Mistakes

Poem - Jazire, Mistakes
WALT - write creatively on the topic from personal experiences
SUCCESS CRITERIA -
I must write my poem independently
I must reread and edit my work
I must use the correct punctuation and grammar
Poem:
We all make those small mistakes
We have those little accidents
Something either falls or breaks
But that’s not what the problem is
The problem is without mistakes
We wouldn’t learn about new things
We wouldn’t know how long it takes
To learn about what life can bring
That’s why mistakes are important
We can learn from them straight away
And then when we make another
We will know just what to say
It’s okay to make mistakes
We’ll only get better anyway
It doesn’t matter how long it takes
We will always find a way
Mistakes are made
But it’s okay
Because we all know what to say
It’s okay to make mistakes
We’ll only get better anyway
It doesn’t matter how long it takes
We will always find a way

We wrote a poem on mistakes for writing. Above is my poem. I am happy with the way I wrote it. This poem talked about making mistakes which is okay to do so, because we all will eventually learn from them anyway.

We are learning how to - Write a paragraph

Room 7 - Cheeseburger paragraph
HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Room 7 is a very productive class. Room 7, a class in Glen Innes School, has just started to get creative. Just recently, the class has been doing loads of art. In this classroom, you will find colourful things everywhere, from colours and pictures to words and work. There are a lot of students in Room 7 who like to bring their own colourful things. Even their bags are entertaining. I guess you could say that this class is very imaginative, because they are always doing things that make their room better and innovative. Now when you walk into this classroom, you will see that there are all sorts of things you can do to make something beautiful.

A poem/rhyme about Spring

Name: Jazire                                                                               Date: 16 sep 2016

WALT: use rhyming words in our writing.

Find words that rhyme with the following:

Sun - Fun
Spring - Bring
Bud - Stud
Buds - Spuds
New - Few
Fresh - Dress
Hop - Drop
Green - Seen
Emerging - Burning
Born - Corn
Air - Fair
Warm - Storm
Warmer - Corner
Flowers - Hours
Plants - Stance
Leaves - Heaves
Shoot - Flute
Grow - Flow

Write a poem using the words above to show you understand rhyming words.

It’s Spring

It’s spring It’s spring the time of fun
It’s spring, time to play in the sun

We’ll sit down and relax under a tree, by its stud
And make ourselves at home by eating some tasty spuds

We only have a little, we only have a few
but we can just get up and do something new
We can play hop scotch (hop hop hop)
We can play hop scotch and hop until we drop

We will lay down on the grass so green
And stare at all the pretty flowers
The loveliest flowers I’ve ever seen
I could gaze at them for hours

As the sun, from the clouds is emerging
It hits me with its beautiful rays, burning

We can watch some new plants be born
And out of them will come little corn
The skin of it will be very fresh
Hahaha, on the corn, the leaves look like a dress.

It feels so calm, the beautiful air
I think that the weather is also so fair

The sun today is so hot, so warm
You don’t need a raincoat today, there is no storm

As the clouds cover the sun, just as it starts to get warmer
It comes out again peeking its head around the corner

I see a gardener as he heaves
A handful of brown, yellow, red and green leaves.

We look back down at one of the growing plants
It looks like a dancer with a ballerina stance

We should play some netball, who first is gonna shoot
We play our game whilst someone nearby is playing the flute

We go down to the beach, leaving the little sprouts to grow
WOW look at the water, it has a cool flow

It’s spring it’s spring a lot of joy it will bring
My favourite season is (you already know) spring!

This is my work on a poem about spring.
I think that this helped me to learn to use better and more descriptive words in my writing, so that I can improve. I like my choice of words and matter. I also like how the first words and second words in the first part of my poem fit together in the story. I will now use a lot more descriptive and fun rhyming words in my writing, to show that I can improve and learn heaps.
